Meet Mrs. Knabe

This is my eighteenth year to teach and my sixth year teaching at Whitewright High School. Since starting here, I have been impressed by the support and enthusiasm of the community around Whitewright.
Just so you know a little about me, I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a BA in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, I became certified in Oklahoma and Texas to teach any high school science or math. In the last eighteen years, I've taught Algebra 1 to AP Calculus and IPC to AP Physics. I've also been invited to sit on multiple committees at the local and state level for both state assessment and teacher professional development.
Nineteen years ago I was lucky enough to marry the love of my life, Richard. Together we have been blessed with four adorable children; Ryan, Devin, Caitlin and Robin.

I love physics and I thoroughly enjoy sharing this love with high school students. I believe that physics is an essential subject that all people can understand and apply. My goal in physics is to strengthen students' science skills while building on physics concepts they learned in middle school. This year we will be studying kinematics, Newton's Laws, projectiles, momentum, energy, electricity, waves, light, magnetism, and a touch of quantum theory. :)
As Physics connects math and science, I am excited to teach PreCalculus and Calculus which explains the world of change. This year we will study trigonometric functions which model oscillating behavior and sharpen the understanding of functions and their applications. Calculus will build on those skills and make a leap to limits, derivatives, along with integrals.
