Graduated from Brownfield High School in Brownfield, TX in 1982. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2012.
BA in Social Studies Composite.
This is my first year with Whitewright ISD and WHS. I will be teaching World Geography, Pre-AP World Geography, and Pre-AP World History.
This will be my 6th year as an educator. I began teaching in 2014 at Lufkin High School (East Texas) where I taught World Geography, Sociology, and US History Remedial for two years. From there, I taught two years at Odessa High School (West Texas) where I taught World Geography and Economics. This past year, I taught Government, AP Government, and Economics at an IB Charter school in Dallas.
Prior to teaching, I worked 35 years in a variety of industries from retail/restaurant management to distribution/logistics management. I utilize this experience in the classroom environment to connect the relevance of what students learn to real-world applications and expectations.
I have been married for 33 years and have two daughters who are married. All four of us attended SFASU at the same time and are all teachers with a current combined teaching experience of 26 years. I have one dog, a shih-tzu, named Chewy who is another member of the family.
I enjoy hiking in natural surroundings, watching movies, and Netflix binge-watching when I take a break away from teaching.
I am excited about teaching at Whitewright High School and looking forward to becoming an integral part of the Tiger Pride!
