Parent Portal Absence / Grade Alert Error
There has been an issue with the alert service transition from txConnect to Ascender Parent Portal. They were able to find the issue and correct it yesterday, Wednesday, December 11th. That was both good and bad. It has caused much confusion and concern for parents/guardians because OLD alerts have gone out for the first time today. The system gathered historical alerts and notified parents this morning of previous absences. Parents are receiving generic messages that their student(s) had an absence. The message does not contain a date for that absence so the parents are thinking that it was a recent absence when in reality it may not have been, could be an alert for an absence that occurred previously. The date of 12/12/19 reflects the date of the alert, today’s date, not the absence(s). Also, parents may receive an alert for a grade that falls below the threshold they have setup for grade notifications, but that alert may also be for something that occurred in the past. The good, after this initial mass sending of alerts, things should settle down and parents should only receive alerts when Grades and/or Attendance meets the threshold setup by the parent/guardian in Parent Portal.
